Bache Cycles retro ex-shop stock bicycle horde

14/8/2015

Picture
The sport of Mountain Biking began in the 1970's in Colorado and California in the USA and back then the slang term given to bikes used for riding off-road was 'clunkers'!

Early pioneers included Gary Fisher (shown left) who set up his own bicycle company along with Charlie Kelly in 1979 - apparently Kelly coined the phrase 'Mountain Bike' and the duo called their company simply MountainBikes.

We recently had the job of clearing out the old stock of a local long-standing bicycle and toy shop - Bache Brothers in Lye (near Stourbridge, West Midlands)

The clearance includes approximately 400 retro bicycles, BMXs and Mountain Bikes which will all be sold without reserve on Thursday 20th August 2015.

Most of the bikes are untouched in their original shipping cartons and manufacturers include Gary Fisher, Diamondback, Raleigh, Dawes, Scott, Claude Butler, Emmelle and Universal.
